Here is, from left to right, Savannah, Katie Bug and my wife Olivia. This picture was taken in front of the Buck Stove. Happy looking crew, huh? If you look close you can see our Poodle, Honey Girl, in the chair to the far left.
One of the girls in the hen house. She is a Barred Rock and she is 9 months old. Just starting to lay on a regular basis. We also have 2 Red Leghorn hens, 1 Buff Silkie and a mixed bantam.
Our daughter Katherine Opal (Katie Bug) with our 2 Boer goats Daisy and LouLou. We had hoped to breed them and still do but we lost our young Buck. Not sure what happened to him he just kept getting weaker and weaker until the end. He spent his last few days in our bath tub as we nursed him along as best we could. It was a blow to us all. ( Most all of our animals have spent some time in the house at one time or another ).
This is our farm dog Smokey Bear. He is a Black Lab/Huskie mix or that is what the guy we got him from seems to think. I've not seen any sign of Huskie in him though. He was free at the Flea Market and worth every penny of it. We have had him since he was about 2 months old and I think he is about 9 months in this picture. He is a monster of a dog and gentle as lamb. Needless to say he is now a member of the family farm.
Just a guy that was born and raised in West Virginia and moved to Kentucky trying to raise a family on a small farm. We have goats, ducks, chickens, lots of dogs and raise a garden. Trying to live life simple and as peacful as possible. It's not as easy as it sounds.
