Punkins, Punkins Everywhere !!!

First let me say that I am very sorry it's been so long since the last post. This simple life that I am trying to live is getting more complicated by the day. Long story and I'm not going to bore you with my problems.

We harvested some punkins and gourds from the garden the other day. Got some nice looking gourds and some yummy punkins.
This is not what I had in mind as food storage but, atleast it's a start. haha!!My girls cleaning out 2 punkins and getting ready to carve them.Katie getting a hand full of punkin flesh. We ofcourse roasted the seeds and they were great.Made 2 loafs of pumpkin bread with this recipe from pick your own. I have already eaten half of one of them. Sooooo Gooooood.Pureed some of the pumpkin to freeze. Seems it's not really recommended to can pumpkin.
Savannah's pumpkin. Katie's Thomas the Train pumpkin.

Those gourds are beautiful! I have to admit, I was beginning to wonder what happened - if you moved farther into the hills or what... Glad you're back :)

Can't believe it's almost Halloween, love the carved jacko-latterns.

Hey! Glad to have you back! I hope everything is okay. ('the simple life' is a bit of an oxymoron sometimes, isn't it?) Beautiful gourds and pumpkins! Pumpkin bread is one of my favorites! Yum!! Gen--IL Homesteader

Your pumpkins (carved and otherwise) look great. That Thomas the Tank Engine is particularly impressive.:) Thanks for the link for the bread--I followed a link within it to find out how to cook your own pumpkin in the first place, so now I'll be able to use fresh instead of canned! Now, once my pumpkins are ripe, I'll be set... :)

MOH, Thanks, I always think of heading deeper into the hill. lol

Rook, Thanks man, the bread was great.

Gen, things got a little crazy in my world so I buried my head in the sand for a while. Not so much to hide, just for the quite. Good to be back. Thanks

Survival Chick, thanks for stoping by, hope you come back often.

Marie, the girls found the templet for the pumpkins online somewhere and printed them out. They placed them over the pumpkins and traced them out. Turned out really nice. Glad you followed the link, lots of good info in there for sure. Keep check on those punkins, getting close I'm sure.

Thanks to all for your comments.

Hey there Scavenger man...now you've just wrecked it for me. Here I thought you carved those puppies freehand! The display of pumpkins on the rail looks amazing!
Hey, I pickled beets last week! Didn't wear gloves...yup, looked like I had done away with Big Daddy! We opened up a jar of pickled asparagus (from May) this weekend at our cabin. A tad salty and Big Daddy says they would taste even better surrounded with vodka and tomato juice...what am I going to do?? lol
Keep posting, okay??
