Ducks in the Garden ???

As some of you may have read in some of my earlier posts we had 14 baby ducks hatch in the fenced in garden. I had a nesting box in there for the chickens early in the spring so they could clean up the garden and one of our female ducks flew over the fence and laid all those eggs. The thing i'm not sure about is, will they hurt any of my plants? So far they have just been eating bugs and such. They just scurry around right through the green beans and peppers and never seem to think anything about them. I really enjoy watching them play and grow in the garden but don't want to loose anything to them. Has anyone else ever had a situation like this? I don't want to put them out until they get a little bigger. Lots of coyote around and ofcourse the dog would play them to death. Any thoughts are welcome.

Momma Duck is telling them not to bother any of the garden plants. ( I hope )

I'm watching you.

Nice pictures, I liked seeing that mama duck with her little ones in the garden. I don't have any experiences with ducks, but I'd like to learn more. I've heard that they can forage very well.

I don't think I'm going to turn the pigs loose in the garden this fall after all. I'll probably just let the chickens in there when things are harvested.

Thanks Ron, We love the ducks. We have 2 pair of wild ducks that hang around the goats lot and I saw one of the females with 5 or6 baby ducks of her own. Glad they feel safe enough here to raise their babys. So far the ducks have only eaten bugs and weeds. This may be a great thing I just don't know, so far so good.

I had some Muscovy ducks that also ignored my peppers and other garden plants, until one day it was like a light bulb went off in their heads, and they wiped out most of the peppers.

Tracy, thanks for the info, I'll be watching for that light bulb. I probably better go check on them now.
